Error connecting to database OTIDB...Login failed for user 'sa'

If you receive the following message: "Error connecting to database OTIDB...Login failed for user 'sa'", the answer can be found here

This error is usually due to password policies being too stringent for OptionPower to be able to log into the database.  OptionPower meets or exceeds the Microsoft guidelines for password complexity (found here).  However, if the password policy settings on the local machine or domain are more than Microsoft's guidelines, OptionPower may not be able to connect to the database properly.

In a majority of cases, this is caused by the Minimum Password Length being set higher than the recommended 8.  If that is the case, you will need to set the Minimum Password Length policy to 8 or less for OptionPower to function properly.

Other password policies that exceed Microsoft's recommendation may also interfere.  To test if this is the issue, temporarily disable the "Password Must Meet Complexity Requirements" policy and see if this allows OptionPower to connect to the database.  If so, one of the other specific password policies is too stringent for OptionPower.  You will need to align these policies with the Microsoft recommendations above until you discover which one is causing the failure.
