“This version requires Office X”, message appears when installing OptionPower even though that version of Office is installed.

Cause: the registry has the incorrect PowerPoint version number information

Solution:

  1. Click Start
  2. In the Search field type regedit
  3. Open the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
  4. Click PowerPoint.Application
  5. Click CurVer
  6. The version information is listed in the right pane. It should be
    1. PowerPointApplication.15 for Office 2013.
    2. PowerPointApplication.16 for Office 2016
