Run User Add-In for a New OptionPower User

The OptionPower tab does not show up for a user other than the one that installed OptionPower on the machine.

The OptionPower directory was moved in version 6.0. Prior to Version 6.0, our directory structure was under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\OptionPower

In 6.0, this structure has been moved to:

C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\OptionPower

This has a few important implications:

1. The first time the new user opens PowerPoint with OptionPower 6+ installed, it will ask them if they want to install our add-in (because Public Documents is not an automatically trusted location). They should answer yes to this! Once they’ve answered yes, they should not be prompted again.

2. If the user had 5.0 installed and running with multiple users on the machine, and then upgrades to 6.0, the other users will no longer have an OptionPower tab (this is not an issue for the installing user). This is because PowerPoint is still looking for OptionPower in the old directory location. To fix this, each user will need to log in and run the UserAddin utility. This utility changes the registry entry that tells PowerPoint where to look for OptionPower to the new directory location. This utility only takes about a second to run. Once this is done, the OptionPower tab should reappear for the additional user. The UserAddin utility can be found here:

a. Start -> All Programs -> OptionPower -> Tools -> User Addin
