Sometimes the G2 drivers do not install correctly when OptionFinder is reinstalled. You will need to manually install the drivers
- Make sure the computer is not plugged into a docking station and that all cables from the base station to the computer are tight
- Right click "My Computer"
- Left click "Manage".
The Computer Management window will show
- Left click on Device Manger and look for a device with a yellow question mark and shield with an exclamation point on it, most likely to be found in the Other Devices section
- Right click the device in question (the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller) in the above example). Select "Update Driver". You will be shown the Hardware Update Wizard
- On the first screen select "No, not this time" and click "Next"
- On the second screen select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" (the 2nd option) and click "Next"
- On the third screen uncheck "Search removable media" and check "Include this location in the search"
- Click the "Browse" button to display the "Browse for Folder" window
- Browse to your CD drive, which should be labelled "OF 5.3 (X:)" (where X is the letter of your CD drive).
- Click the "+" to expand the CD folder's listing. The OptionFinder disk ships with drivers for G2s and IRs. If other drivers are needed contact OTI. Click on either the G2 or IR folder corresponding with the base station you have plugged in. Click the "OK" button to close the Browse for Folder window. You will be left at the Hardware Update Wizard
- Click "Next"
- Drivers for the selected hardware are installed. The final screen of the hardware wizard displays the success of installation. If it indicates that the installation was unsuccessful, please call OTI for assistance.
- Click the "Finish" button
- Close the "Computer Management" window and use steps 2-4 above to re-open the Device Manager. If there are no entries with the yellow question mark, driver installation is complete. If using an older G2 base station you may find there is still an entry with a yellow question mark. If there is, follow the above steps to install the drivers a 2nd time. When you are finished, re-open the Device Manager. If there are still yellow question marks after the 2nd installation of drivers, please call OTI for support.
Possible Problems and Other Considerations:
No CD - the drivers are not stored on the computer in an accessible location. If you do not have the CD please contact OTI so we may send you the necessary drivers
Which Version of G2 Drivers to Use - If your G2 base station is newer than May 2008 you will need the FTDI WHQL G3-G2 Universal Driver. If your G2 base is older than May 2008 and you have not updated the firmware you will need the OptionFinder G2 USB Driver.
