Set up a G3 or G4 base station in ethernet mode
1. Connect the base station to your computer or switch (if using more than 1 base station) and plug in the power supply. NOTE: the power supply is only needed for Ethernet mode, do not use when connecting USB.
2. Open the Local Area Connection Properties screen
- Vista and Windows 7 On the Start menu, Control Panel, Click Network and Sharing Center, click Local Area Connection, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties
3. (Vista/7) Click the properties button
If the computer is going to be used at a location that does not require it to be on a network or internet you can set the IP address on the general page by checking the box to the left of “Use the following IP address”
On a corporate network select the “Alternate Configuration” tab
If theBase station has not been configured for Ethernet enter the following
IP address: 200.0.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Click OK to save settings.
Note: No DNS settings need to be entered.
1. Go to Start, All Programs, OptionPower and Open “G3 Ethernet Utility”. The Digi Device Discovery will search for base stations that are connected and on the same Subnet (network).
When it finds the base station it will list its IP Address, MAC address, Name and Device number.
If you want to change the base station’s IP Address Click “Configure network setting button”, Enter the new IP Address and subnet mask, Do NOT enter default gateway unless connecting to a corporate network. (Ask your IT group for this setting)
Click Save and Reboot the Base Station.
*If you change the Base Station’s IP Address to something other than 200.0.0.X, you need to repeat Step 2 and change the computer’s IP Address to be on the same network. E.g. Base Station’s IP Address: 10.1.1.5 Computer’s IP Address: 10.1.1.1
Step – 4 Open OptionPower, select hardware button on the OptionPower ribbon.
Under “Model” using the drop down select OptionFinder G3 or OptionFinder G4. Enter the Low and High keypads the click on “Base Station Settings” Button.
On the “OptionFinder Configuration” dialog check the “Ethernet Connection” box, enter the base stations IP Address then click “Verify”.
If all the settings are correct the status will change to Green and OK. Click OK to save and close the dialog, click OK again to close the Hardware dialog.
