Steps to cure a partial installation
Sometimes you may think an installation is hung up and reboot your computer. It is possible that Microsoft SQL was taking a while to install (as it does) and the installation was not really hung. However, now there is a half-installed version of OptionPower on that machine. These are the steps to remove the half-installed OptionPower so the install can be restarted.
- Go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall anything that starts with "Microsoft SQL Server"
- Close Control Panel
- Click on Start Button and My Computer, navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\OptionPower folder
- Copy the Data folder from under OptionPower to the desktop or some other safe place. This is how to save data.
- NOTE: IF THIS STEP IS NOT FOLLOWED DATA WILL BE LOST. If this is a new installation it may not matter but it is important to understand the possible consequences of not performing this step
- Delete the entire C:\Users\Public\Documents\OptionPower folder
- Reboot the computer
- Restart the OptionPower installation process (either from the CD or from the file they downloaded from the Internet)
- Once installation is complete, copy the Data folder saved to the desktop (or other safe location) back to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\OptionPower folder, overwriting the one that is there. This will restore their data.
- NOTE: If you were migrating from a previous version to OptionPower you may require further technical support to migrate your data as there may have been structural changes to the database since the version you upgraded from
